Gresham-Barlow Science Expo
The GBSE is sponsored by the Gresham-Barlow Education Foundation. The GBEF provides funding for the management of the expo as well as establishing a fund at Gresham High and Sam Barlow High that students can access to help pay for their project.
The Gresham-Barlow Science Expo (GBSE) is the at-large regional fair for high school students that are not in a region served by any other fair. Due to the Coronavirus, the traditional in-person GBSE and the NWSE events were canceled and restructured into a digital science expo. Two Gresham High School projects were awarded the Pacific Northwest Scientist Award*: Alexis Klementis, for her project The Effect of Light Shielding on Light Pollution at Night in Oregon, and Adamari Saldana for her project The Effect of Meat Substitute on Rate of Digestion in a Simulated Stomach.
This award is sponsored by The Pacific Northwest Local Section of the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA). Each regional science fair gives awards where students advance to the International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF). This year’s awardees are: Hannah Fransen, Nathan Daret, and Dylan Hess, from Gresham High School, for their project Crazy Creek Chemicals.
